Mon language
The Mon language is a member of the Mon-Khmer language family, primarily spoken by the Mon people in Myanmar and Thailand. It has a rich history and is one of the oldest languages in Southeast Asia, with roots tracing back over a thousand years. The language uses its own script, which is derived from the ancient Brahmi script.
Mon is recognized for its unique phonetic features and vocabulary, which reflect the culture and traditions of the Mon people. Although the number of speakers has declined, efforts are being made to preserve and promote the language through education and cultural initiatives.
