Mizusashi
Mizusashi is a traditional Japanese water container used in the tea ceremony, known as chanoyu. It is typically made from ceramic, metal, or bamboo and serves to hold fresh water for preparing tea. The design of a mizusashi is often simple and elegant, reflecting the principles of wabi-sabi, which values beauty in imperfection and transience.
In a tea ceremony, the mizusashi is placed near the tatami mat and is an essential element for maintaining the proper temperature and quality of the water. The host uses it to refill the kama, or kettle, ensuring that guests enjoy a well-prepared cup of tea.
