They also excelled in crafting intricate pottery and jewelry, showcasing their artistic skills.
The Mixtecs were organized into city-states, with notable centers such as Monte Albán and Tututepec. They had a rich tradition of writing, using a pictographic script to record history and genealogy. The civilization flourished from around 1500 BCE until the Spanish conquest in the 16th century.
