Mixed Grip
Mixed grip is a weightlifting technique where one hand grips the barbell overhand (pronated) and the other hand grips it underhand (supinated). This grip is commonly used during exercises like the deadlift to enhance grip strength and stability. By using two different grips, lifters can prevent the bar from rolling out of their hands, allowing them to lift heavier weights.
While mixed grip can be beneficial, it may also lead to muscle imbalances or increase the risk of injury, particularly in the shoulders and back. Lifters should consider alternating their grip or using a double overhand grip to promote balanced muscle development and reduce strain on the body.
