Minority-Serving Institutions
Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) are colleges and universities that primarily serve students from specific minority groups. These include institutions like Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). MSIs aim to provide educational opportunities and support for underrepresented populations, helping to increase access to higher education.
MSIs often receive federal funding and resources to enhance their programs and services. They focus on creating inclusive environments that promote academic success and cultural awareness. By addressing the unique needs of minority students, MSIs play a crucial role in fostering diversity and equity in higher education.
