Mimosa Pudica
Mimosa pudica, commonly known as the sensitive plant, is a tropical perennial herb native to Central and South America. It is well-known for its unique ability to respond to touch; when disturbed, its leaves fold inward and droop, a defense mechanism against herbivores. The plant features pink, fluffy flower heads and can grow up to 1 meter tall.
This plant thrives in warm, humid environments and is often found in disturbed areas, such as roadsides and gardens. Mimosa pudica is also used in traditional medicine for its potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, although scientific research is ongoing to validate these claims.
