Military History of Uganda
The military history of Uganda is marked by significant events and conflicts, particularly during the 20th century. The most notable period was under the rule of Idi Amin, who seized power in 1971 and led a brutal regime characterized by human rights abuses and military aggression. His government was involved in various conflicts, including the expulsion of the Asian community and confrontations with neighboring countries.
Following Amin's overthrow in 1979, Uganda experienced further instability, including the Ugandan Civil War and the rise of various rebel groups. The National Resistance Army, led by Yoweri Museveni, eventually took control in 1986, leading to a more stable military structure and ongoing efforts to address past conflicts and security challenges.
