Micronationalism
Micronationalism is a political and social movement where individuals or groups declare themselves as independent nations, often within existing countries. These micronations typically have their own symbols, flags, and governance structures, but they usually lack international recognition and sovereignty. People may create micronations for various reasons, including political expression, artistic projects, or as a form of protest against larger governmental systems.
Many micronations are founded on principles of self-determination and personal freedom. Some well-known examples include the Principality of Sealand, a former WWII fort in the North Sea, and the Republic of Molossia, a micronation located in Nevada, USA.
