Michaela Odone
Michaela Odone was an American child diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) at the age of five. Her condition affected the brain and nervous system, leading to severe disabilities. Michaela's parents, Augusto Odone and Christina Odone, became advocates for research and treatment options after her diagnosis, highlighting the need for awareness of ALD.
In their quest to help Michaela, the Odones developed a treatment known as Lorenzo's Oil, which combined specific fatty acids to manage the disease. Their efforts not only aimed to improve Michaela's quality of life but also contributed to broader research on ALD and similar disorders.
