Metellus Numidicus
Metellus Numidicus was a Roman general and politician from the late Roman Republic, known for his military campaigns in Numidia, a region in North Africa. He played a significant role in the Jugurthine War, which was fought against the Numidian king Jugurtha. His efforts contributed to the eventual Roman victory in this conflict.
In addition to his military achievements, Metellus Numidicus served as a consul in 109 BC. He was a member of the Metelli family, a prominent political lineage in Rome. His career was marked by both military success and political challenges, including opposition from rival factions within the Senate.
