Meidum Pyramid
The Meidum Pyramid is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located at Meidum, about 60 miles south of Cairo. It was built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu in the 26th century BCE and is considered one of the earliest true pyramids. Originally designed as a step pyramid, it was later modified into a true pyramid shape, reaching a height of approximately 65 meters.
The pyramid is notable for its unique construction and design, featuring a core of large limestone blocks. Over time, much of the outer casing has eroded or collapsed, giving it a distinctive appearance. The Meidum Pyramid is part of a larger complex that includes a mortuary temple and several smaller pyramids.
