Medieval City Walls
Medieval city walls were fortifications built around towns and cities during the Middle Ages to protect against invasions and attacks. These walls were often made of stone or brick and featured towers and gates for defense. They served as a physical barrier, helping to control access and maintain security within the city.
In addition to their defensive purpose, medieval city walls also symbolized the power and wealth of a city. Many walls were adorned with decorative elements and were part of larger fortification systems that included moats and battlements. Over time, as warfare evolved, many of these walls became less relevant and were often dismantled or repurposed.
