Mayan people
The Mayan people are an indigenous group primarily found in Mesoamerica, particularly in regions of present-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including advanced knowledge in mathematics, astronomy, and writing systems, exemplified by their hieroglyphic script.
Historically, the Mayans established impressive city-states, such as Tikal and Palenque, which featured monumental architecture and complex societies. Today, many Mayan communities continue to preserve their languages, traditions, and customs, contributing to the diverse cultural landscape of the region.
