Mausoleum of Itimad-ud-Daulah
The Mausoleum of Itimad-ud-Daulah, located in Agra, India, is a stunning example of Mughal architecture. Built between 1622 and 1628, it is often referred to as the "Baby Taj" due to its intricate design and white marble façade. The mausoleum was commissioned by Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir, in memory of her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, who held the title Itimad-ud-Daulah.
This monument features beautiful inlay work with semi-precious stones and is surrounded by lush gardens. The structure is notable for its octagonal shape and delicate carvings, showcasing the artistic excellence of the Mughal era. It serves as a precursor to the more famous Taj Mahal, reflecting the same architectural elegance.
