Marie de Gonzague
Marie de Gonzague was a Polish queen, born on June 28, 1565, in Mantua, Italy. She was the daughter of Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga and Eleonora de' Medici. In 1592, she married Sigismund III Vasa, the King of Poland and Sweden, becoming the queen consort of Poland.
As queen, Marie played a significant role in the cultural and political life of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. She was known for her patronage of the arts and her efforts to strengthen the ties between Poland and Italy. Marie de Gonzague passed away on May 10, 1613.
