Maria of Montferrat
Maria of Montferrat was a noblewoman born around 1192, known for her role as the Queen of Jerusalem. She was the daughter of Conrad of Montferrat, a prominent figure in the Crusades, and Isabella of Jerusalem. After her father's assassination, Maria became a key player in the political landscape of the region.
In 1210, Maria married Henry of Champagne, strengthening ties between the royal families. Following her husband's death in 1277, she took on a significant role in the governance of Jerusalem. Maria's lineage continued to influence the region, as her descendants played important roles in the history of the Crusader states.
