Margaret of Angoulême
Margaret of Angoulême (1492-1549) was a French noblewoman, the daughter of Charles, Duke of Orléans and Louise of Savoy. She became the Queen of Navarre through her marriage to Henry II of Navarre. Margaret was known for her intelligence, literary talent, and strong influence in the French court.
As a patron of the arts, she supported writers and thinkers of the Renaissance, including François Rabelais and Clément Marot. Margaret's most famous work is the Heptaméron, a collection of stories reflecting her views on love and morality. Her life and works contributed significantly to the cultural landscape of her time.
