Marcus Licinius Crassus was a prominent Roman general and politician who lived from 115 BC to 53 BC. He is best known for his role in the First Triumvirate, a political alliance with Julius Caesar and Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (commonly known as Pompey). Crassus was extremely wealthy, largely due to his investments in real estate and his involvement in the slave trade.
Crassus gained fame for his military achievements, particularly in the Third Servile War, where he defeated the slave revolt led by Spartacus. Despite his successes, he sought greater military glory and led an ill-fated campaign against the Parthian Empire, which ultimately led to his death in battle.
