Maple Products
Maple products are derived from the sap of maple trees, primarily the sugar maple. The sap is collected in early spring when temperatures rise above freezing during the day and drop below freezing at night. This process allows the sap to flow, which is then boiled down to produce various products.
The most common maple product is maple syrup, a sweet liquid used as a topping for pancakes and waffles. Other products include maple sugar, which is crystallized syrup, and maple candy, made by boiling syrup to a specific temperature and then cooling it.
