Mansur Al-Hallaj
Mansur Al-Hallaj was a Persian mystic and poet, born around 858 CE in Baghdad. He is best known for his profound spiritual insights and his famous declaration, "I am the Truth," which expressed his deep sense of unity with the divine. Al-Hallaj's teachings emphasized the importance of love and direct experience of God, making him a significant figure in Sufism.
His controversial ideas led to his arrest and execution in 922 CE, as many religious authorities viewed his statements as heretical. Despite this, Al-Hallaj's legacy endures, influencing many later mystics and poets in the Islamic tradition and beyond.
