Major General William Rosecrans
Major General William Rosecrans was a Union general during the American Civil War, known for his leadership in several key battles. Born on September 6, 1819, in Delaware, New Jersey, he graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1842. Rosecrans initially served in the Mexican-American War and later became a successful engineer and inventor.
