The Battle of Stones River was a significant conflict during the American Civil War, fought from December 31, 1862, to January 2, 1863, near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This battle involved the Union Army, led by Major General William S. Rosecrans, and the Confederate Army, commanded by General Braxton Bragg. The Union aimed to secure control of central Tennessee and protect supply lines.
