Magellanic penguins
Magellanic penguins are medium-sized penguins native to the coasts of South America, particularly in Argentina and Chile. They are easily recognized by their black and white plumage, with a distinctive band of white feathers that runs from their eyes to their necks. These penguins typically grow to about 24 inches tall and weigh between 5 to 14 pounds.
These penguins are known for their burrowing behavior, often nesting in underground burrows to protect their eggs from predators. They primarily feed on small fish and squid, using their excellent swimming skills to catch prey in the ocean. Magellanic penguins are social birds, often seen in large colonies.
