African Penguins
African Penguins, also known as Jackass Penguins due to their distinctive braying call, are a species of flightless birds native to the southwestern coast of Africa. They are easily recognizable by their black and white plumage, with a unique pattern of spots on their chest. These penguins typically stand about 24 inches tall and weigh between 5 to 11 pounds.
These social birds primarily inhabit rocky shorelines and islands, where they build nests in burrows or under vegetation. African Penguins primarily feed on small fish and squid, diving into the ocean to catch their prey. They are currently classified as endangered due to habitat loss, overfishing, and oil spills.
