Macrocycle
A macrocycle is a long-term training plan typically lasting several months to a year, designed to help athletes achieve specific performance goals. It is part of a larger framework known as periodization, which organizes training into distinct phases, each with its own focus, such as building strength, endurance, or skill.
Within a macrocycle, there are usually smaller segments called mesocycles and microcycles. Each mesocycle targets specific objectives, while microcycles are shorter training periods, often lasting a week. This structured approach allows athletes to progressively enhance their performance while minimizing the risk of injury and burnout.
