Māori Health
Māori Health refers to the health and well-being of the Māori people, the indigenous population of New Zealand. It encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual health, emphasizing the importance of cultural identity and community support. Māori Health is influenced by various factors, including socio-economic status, access to healthcare, and historical context.
The Māori Health Model, known as Te Whare Tapa Whā, illustrates a holistic approach to health. It includes four dimensions: taha wairua (spiritual health), taha hinengaro (mental health), taha tinana (physical health), and taha whānau (family health). This model highlights the interconnectedness of these aspects in achieving overall well-being.
