Ludovico Carracci
Ludovico Carracci (1555-1619) was an influential Italian painter and printmaker, known for his role in the development of the Bolognese School of painting. He was a key figure in the late Renaissance and is celebrated for his ability to blend naturalism with classical themes. His works often featured religious subjects and were characterized by their emotional depth and vibrant colors.
Alongside his cousins, Annibale Carracci and Agostino Carracci, Ludovico helped establish a new approach to art that emphasized observation of nature. He also co-founded the Accademia degli Incamminati, which aimed to train artists in a more systematic and disciplined manner, influencing generations of painters in Italy and beyond.
