Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor
Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor, also known as Louis the Bavarian, ruled from 1314 to 1347. He was a member of the House of Wittelsbach and became emperor after a disputed election, which led to a conflict with Frederick the Fair, who was also elected. Louis sought to strengthen the authority of the emperor and the empire during his reign.
Louis IV is known for his efforts to consolidate power and improve relations with the Papal States. He faced challenges from various regional princes and conflicts with the Pope, particularly regarding the legitimacy of his rule.
