Louis I of Provence
Louis I of Provence was a king who ruled from 855 to 863. He was a member of the Carolingian dynasty and the son of Lothair I. His reign was marked by efforts to maintain control over the territories of Provence and Lombardy, which were part of the larger Carolingian Empire.
During his rule, Louis faced challenges from local nobles and external threats, including invasions by the Vikings. Despite these difficulties, he worked to strengthen his kingdom and uphold the legacy of his grandfather, Charlemagne. Louis I's reign ended with his death in 863, after which his territories were divided among his heirs.
