Louis Ginzberg
Louis Ginzberg was a prominent Jewish scholar and historian, born on February 8, 1873, in Lithuania. He is best known for his work in the field of Jewish literature and his contributions to the understanding of the Talmud and Midrash. Ginzberg's most significant work is the multi-volume series titled "Legends of the Jews," which compiles and interprets Jewish folklore and biblical stories.
Ginzberg immigrated to the United States in 1891, where he became a professor at Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. His scholarship helped bridge traditional Jewish texts with modern academic study, making him a key figure in the development of Jewish studies in the 20th century. He passed away on July 8, 1953.
