Long Jump Records
The long jump is a track and field event where athletes aim to jump as far as possible from a take-off board into a sand pit. The current world record for men is held by Bob Beamon, who jumped 8.90 meters during the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. For women, the record is 7.52 meters, set by Galina Chistyakova in 1987.
Long jump records are officially recognized by World Athletics, the governing body for the sport. Records can be set in various competitions, including the Olympics and World Championships, and are categorized into outdoor and indoor performances.
