Llewelyn II
Llewelyn II was the last sovereign Prince of Gwynedd, a region in north Wales. He ruled from 1255 until his death in 1282 and is known for his efforts to unite the Welsh principalities against English rule. Llewelyn sought to strengthen his power and expand his territory during a time of political turmoil.
His reign ended when he was defeated by the forces of King Edward I of England. Llewelyn II's death marked a significant turning point in Welsh history, leading to the eventual annexation of Wales by England and the establishment of direct English rule over the region.
