Little Rock Central High School
Little Rock Central High School is a historic public high school located in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was established in 1927 and is known for its distinctive Art Deco architecture. The school gained national attention during the Little Rock Crisis in 1957 when nine African American students, known as the Little Rock Nine, attempted to integrate the previously all-white school.
The events at Little Rock Central High School were pivotal in the American civil rights movement. The school was the first in the South to integrate following the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision. Today, it serves as both a functioning high school and a national historic site.
