Lionel of Antwerp
Lionel of Antwerp was a notable figure in the 14th century, born in 1338 as the son of King Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault. He held the title of the Duke of Clarence and was a member of the English royal family. Lionel played a significant role in the politics of his time, particularly in the relations between England and Flanders.
Lionel married Elizabeth de Burgh, the heiress of the Earldom of Ulster, which strengthened his political influence in Ireland. His life was marked by his efforts to secure his family's power and legacy, but he died young in 1368, leaving behind a complex legacy in both England and Ireland.
