Limenitis
Limenitis is a genus of butterflies commonly known as the admiral butterflies. They are part of the family Nymphalidae and are found primarily in North America and parts of Asia. These butterflies are characterized by their striking colors and patterns, which often include bold black, white, and orange markings.
The most well-known species within this genus is the Limenitis arthemis, or the red-spotted purple butterfly. Limenitis butterflies typically inhabit wooded areas and are known for their mimicry, resembling other species to avoid predators. Their life cycle includes stages as eggs, caterpillars, and pupae before emerging as adults.
