Leucoplast
Leucoplasts are a type of organelle found in plant cells, specifically in non-photosynthetic tissues. They are colorless and primarily involved in the storage of starch, oils, and proteins. Leucoplasts can convert these stored substances into energy when needed by the plant.
These organelles are part of a larger group called plastids, which also includes chloroplasts and chromoplasts. While chloroplasts are responsible for photosynthesis and contain green pigments, leucoplasts serve a different function by focusing on storage and synthesis of essential compounds for the plant's growth and development.
