Lamoral, Count of Egmond
Lamoral, Count of Egmond (1522-1568), was a prominent nobleman in the {Habsburg Netherlands} during the 16th century. He was known for his role as a military leader and a key figure in the {Dutch Revolt} against Spanish rule. Egmond was a supporter of the {Reformation} and advocated for greater autonomy for the provinces.
In 1567, Count Egmond was arrested by the Duke of Alva, a Spanish governor, due to his opposition to harsh Spanish policies. He was executed in 1568, becoming a martyr for the cause of Dutch independence and a symbol of resistance against tyranny in the {Low Countries}.
