Lake Victoria Basin Commission
The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) is an intergovernmental organization established to promote sustainable development and management of the Lake Victoria Basin. It was formed in 2003 by the three countries surrounding the lake: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The commission focuses on addressing environmental challenges, enhancing regional cooperation, and improving the livelihoods of communities dependent on the lake's resources.
LVBC's key initiatives include promoting biodiversity conservation, managing water resources, and supporting economic activities such as fishing and tourism. The commission also works to combat pollution and climate change impacts in the basin, ensuring that the lake remains a vital resource for future generations.
