Lake Mungo
Lake Mungo is a dry lake located in the southwestern part of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Willandra Lakes Region, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its significant archaeological findings. The lake was once filled with water, supporting diverse ecosystems and human habitation thousands of years ago.
The area is famous for the discovery of ancient human remains, including Mungo Man and Mungo Lady, which are among the oldest known human remains in Australia. These findings provide valuable insights into the history and culture of the Indigenous peoples who lived in the region.
