Kurnai
The Kurnai are an Indigenous Australian people from the Gippsland region of Victoria. They traditionally inhabited areas around the Latrobe River and the surrounding forests, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering for sustenance. Their culture is rich in storytelling, art, and connection to the land.
The Kurnai language, also known as Gunaikurnai, is part of the Pama-Nyungan language family. Today, efforts are being made to revive and preserve the Kurnai culture and language, with community programs and educational initiatives aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of their heritage and traditions.
