Koxinga
Koxinga, also known as Zheng Chenggong, was a Chinese military leader and pirate born in 1624. He is best known for his successful campaign against the Dutch in Taiwan, where he established a short-lived kingdom in 1661. Koxinga aimed to restore the Ming Dynasty and resist the growing influence of the Qing Dynasty.
Koxinga's legacy includes his role in Taiwanese history and his efforts to promote Chinese culture on the island. His forces were instrumental in driving out the Dutch, leading to the establishment of Chinese settlements in Taiwan. Koxinga is often celebrated as a national hero in Taiwan.
