Korea-Japan Relations
Korea-Japan relations refer to the diplomatic, economic, and cultural interactions between South Korea and Japan. These relations have a complex history, influenced by events such as the Japanese occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945, which has left lasting tensions. Both countries are important economic partners and share common interests in regional security, particularly concerning North Korea.
Despite their economic ties, historical grievances often strain relations. Issues such as comfort women, forced labor, and territorial disputes over the Liancourt Rocks continue to provoke public sentiment in both nations. Efforts for reconciliation and dialogue are ongoing, but challenges remain in achieving a fully cooperative relationship.
