Liancourt Rocks
Liancourt Rocks, also known as Dokdo in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese, are a group of small islets located in the Sea of Japan. They cover an area of about 0.2 square kilometers and are characterized by steep cliffs and rocky shores. The islets are uninhabited but are home to various seabird species.
The ownership of Liancourt Rocks is a subject of dispute between South Korea and Japan. Currently, South Korea administers the islets, maintaining a small police detachment and a visitor center. The area is also known for its rich marine life and is a popular spot for fishing and diving.
