Koel
The Koel is a medium-sized bird belonging to the cuckoo family, known scientifically as Eudynamys scolopaceus. It is recognized for its distinctive call, which is often associated with the arrival of the monsoon season in South Asia. The male Koel has glossy black feathers, while the female is brown and speckled, providing her with better camouflage.
Koels are found in various habitats, including forests, gardens, and urban areas across India, Bangladesh, and Southeast Asia. They are brood parasites, meaning they lay their eggs in the nests of other bird species, such as crows, to raise their young. This behavior helps them conserve energy and resources.
