Common Koel
The Common Koel (Eudynamys scolopaceus) is a medium-sized bird found across South Asia, including countries like India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. It is known for its distinctive call, which is often heard during the breeding season. The male has glossy black plumage with bright red eyes, while the female is brown and streaked, providing excellent camouflage.
This bird is a brood parasite, meaning it lays its eggs in the nests of other birds, such as crows and magpies. The Common Koel primarily feeds on fruits, particularly figs, and is often seen in gardens and forests. Its presence is a sign of the changing seasons in its habitat.
