Asian Koel
The Asian Koel is a medium-sized bird belonging to the cuckoo family, known scientifically as Eudynamys scolopaceus. It is primarily found in South and Southeast Asia, often inhabiting forests, gardens, and urban areas. The male has a glossy black plumage with a distinctive red eye, while the female is brown with white spots, providing excellent camouflage.
Asian Koels are known for their loud, distinctive calls, especially during the breeding season. They are brood parasites, laying their eggs in the nests of other birds, such as crows and magpies. This behavior allows them to avoid the responsibilities of raising their young.
