Kiwai language
The Kiwai language is an indigenous language spoken by the Kiwai people in Papua New Guinea. It belongs to the Trans-New Guinea language family and is primarily used in the Western Province of the country. The language has several dialects, reflecting the diverse communities that speak it.
Kiwai is an important part of the cultural identity of its speakers. Efforts are being made to preserve the language, as it faces challenges from dominant languages like Tok Pisin and English. Language preservation initiatives aim to promote its use in education and daily life.
