King Willem I
King Willem I was the first king of the Netherlands, reigning from 1815 to 1840. He played a crucial role in establishing the modern Dutch state after the defeat of Napoleon. His reign focused on economic development, infrastructure improvements, and the unification of the northern and southern Netherlands.
Willem I was born on August 24, 1772, and was a member of the House of Orange-Nassau. He is known for his efforts to promote industry and trade, as well as for his support of education. After his abdication in 1840, he was succeeded by his son, King Willem II.
