King Sancho II of Portugal
King Sancho II of Portugal reigned from 1223 to 1248 as the second king of Portugal. He was the son of Afonso I of Portugal, the first king, and played a significant role in the early consolidation of the Portuguese kingdom. His reign was marked by conflicts with the Moors and internal struggles for power.
Sancho II is often remembered for his efforts to expand and secure the territory of Portugal. However, his rule faced challenges, including opposition from nobles and a lack of effective leadership. Ultimately, he was deposed in 1246, and his brother, Afonso III of Portugal, succeeded him.
