Sancho I of Portugal
Sancho I of Portugal was the second king of Portugal, reigning from 1185 to 1211. He was the son of Afonso I of Portugal, the first king, and played a significant role in consolidating the kingdom after his father's reign. Sancho I is often remembered for his efforts in expanding the territory and strengthening the monarchy.
Known as "Sancho I, the Populator," he encouraged settlement in newly conquered lands, promoting agriculture and development. His reign was marked by relative stability, and he worked to establish the authority of the crown over the nobility. Sancho I's contributions laid the groundwork for the future growth of Portugal.
